Although I was trying to complete Project 365 when I started this blog, Im pretty happy with myself for making it to 300 in just over a year. I have been missing alot lately and wanting to repeat. So I think its time to quit. I will pick the blog back up when I come up with another idea for what to write about. Stay tuned...

Oops missed some days
Oops I missed some days. I have no idea why I didn't think to take pictures or write posts. So here is the short version of what you missed.
Wednesday- It nor'eastered. Rain, snow, general miserableness all day.
Thur- I had off from work and it was freezing so i spent the day inside avoiding the snow.
Friday- I went to breakfast with Danielle and hung with my mom.
Saturday- Played pick up football. Finally started to get my butt in shape.
Sunday- Unseasonably warm weather so I washed the car with dad. I had no real motivation to do anything else so I spent the afternoon watching the Eagles.

What's your number?
There is a movie that came out recently called What's your Number. I never saw it but apparently its about how many people you need to date before you find the right one. This morning on the radio they were talking about the same thing. A magazine reported that you have to kiss an average of 22 guys before you find Mr. Right. No wonder I can't seem to find him! At this rate he wont be here til I'm like 90!

I've been a teacher for too long
I think you know you've been a teacher for too long when you start understanding their crazy. See if you know what this means. I did.

Hurricane Sandy day 2
When I was in high school my parents and I took a road trip to Detroit. We took the old Cadillac because we were going for a big car show. It was also supposed to be my first time leaving the country because we were going to day trip to Canada. Well we got almost there and the power went out for a quarter of the country. It was something with the grid. I'm not sure if any of you remember it, but I sure do. There were no street lights and it was downpouring. We got to the hotel and we showered in cold water in the dark. We could only use the bathroom if it was an emergency because it wouldnt flush. And we had no food. We were listening to this radio that barely told us anything. After we ate a granola bar my dad decided we needed to turn around and leave. We had to try to get out of town into where they had power before we ran out of gas. But we were in the Cadillac so that involved doing the math to make sure we could make it. All in a strange city. It was so scary! But we made it to Ohio and got gas and just drove home. So when they tell me to prepare for a hurricane in my own house, I dont get too worried (and we all know Im a worrier). After that blackout, this was a walk in the park. I was home with my parents, we had computers, cell phones, food, and a bathtub filled with water in case we needed to flush. We had snack, books, flashlights, and water. It was a nice day off. I've had the most enjoyable hurricane!
Here is a throwback picture from the blackout and a current picture of our backyard.

Hurricane day
I've had many snow days in my life, but this is my first hurricane day. School is cancelled today because they want us all off of the roads preparing for the storm. It seemed silly to me to cancel school before the rain even started but all of the local towns did. I went home last night prepared to spend today laying around the house in my pajamas. However, my plans quickly changed because I lost power already. It was barely even raining! So I packed my bag and my flashlight and slept at my parents. They still have power. So far I've watched about 5 hours of tv and made carmel corn with my mom. Its been the best hurricane day ever!

Walkie talkies
At our staff meeting today some of us got instructions on how to use our new walkie talkies. We were all sitting in a room practicing using them. Then the boss went into the hall to page each of us on the walkies. After she was done she asked if she missed anyone. This one lady yells really loud, "you missed me". She totally forgot she was holding the walkie talkie. The rest of us were rolling we were laughing so hard. It was the highlight of my day. Like something from a sitcom only she wasn't doing it to be funny.

Why didn't I think of that
As I was sitting on my couch eating my usual ice cream with peanut butter, Danielle sent me this picture. I should have invented that. It's two of my favorite things!

God bless you, Ted
I felt like Barney Stintson today. I was out to dinner with some friends and Katherine mentioned that she didn't know I bought a motorcycle. (Earlier that day Thomas said the same thing.) So Kate quickly jumped in with "haven't you been reading her blog!?" She then went on to rattle off the web address from memory. So, god bless you, Kate, you're reading my blog! :-)

Kids say the darnedest things
Student 1: I cant wait to go to Disney next week!
Student 2 mocking (or trying to): Oh you're going where Scooby is from
Student 1: No I'm going where Ariel lives.
Student to me: You should always stand next to Mr. V because it makes you look skinny
(Please note that Mr. V is probably 3 times my size) She was trying to give a compliment haha

Random button
My hand slipped on my keyboard and I hit this random button today. I usually get nervous when that happens. Turns out a calculator popped up. Who knew! That's so useful. I wish I knew it was there earlier.

Take 2,537,361
After what felt like a million tries, this is the best shot of us at our friends wedding. Sad isn't it. You don't even want to see the other takes. You're just going to have to take my word for it. The room and people all looked nice and the ceremony was pain free.
Lookin good
It takes a lot of people, time, and energy to make us look good. Since me, my mom, and my dad had a wedding the same day my brother had another one, everything was happening all at once. Here Thomas is figuring out his hanky, my dad is shining his shoes, and my mom is ironing his shirt.

OC block party
Once a year Ocean City has what they call a block party. Its actually about 7 blocks of craft and food vendors mixed in with random live music. Here is an example of the type of rockers this event attracts.

Stupid things
Some people do stupid things. Some people do really stupid things. The rest of us can be thankful that our mess ups are really not that bad in the grand scheme of things. So good job to those of you that just made average mistakes today.
Footsie pajamas
Target sells footsie pajamas for adults! My mom is definitely getting a pair of these for Christmas.

Seems legit
Only at walmart. My roommate goes, "that must be whats wrong with our love lives. We had the wrong lightbulbs!" Apparently if you buy these your food and your face look nicer. Seems legit to me.
This has my name all over it
My mom texted me and said she was down the shore but that she left me leftovers in the fridge. I went home to hang out today and the baked ziti had my name all over it... literally.

Crazy week
Sorry I haven't posted recently but I had a crazy week. Between work, classes, back to school night, and errands I didn't stop. Then I got sick and put everything on hold. I took a couple pictures but nothing too noteworthy. Here is my super clean car that my dad waxed for me. And the disgusting turkey vultures that I run from every morning at work.

Trouble with the curve
Me and my mom went to see the movie Trouble With the Curve. We both thought it looked good and it had some celebrities in it such as Clint Eastwood and Justin Timberlake. A few minutes into the movie we got the best surprise. Matt Bush was in it! Matt was a boy I went to high school with. Hes friends with my brother. Recently hes been showing up in movies and tv. I guess its working out for him.
New toy
I got a motorcycle! Wasn't that fast. My dad found it online and it was in the area so he checked it out. I got the money while he called the guy. The guy could deliver it today so here it is.

Professor
Wednesday was my first college class. I was extremely nervous. I got there very early to check out the room. It was in a building all the way on the back of campus with nothing in it except the desks and a blackboard. Not a whiteboard or a projector but an old fashioned chalk board. Once I started teaching I was fine though, the nerves went away. Also, someone call me professor!

Test day
I passed! I got some points deducted for going outside of the lines on a U turn and not stopping fast enough on another part. But it was still enough to pass. Yay! Now I need to practice.
Motorcycle class
Friday night I started motorcycle class. We didn't leave the classroom on Friday though. The fun stuff started Saturday. We had to start at 7:00 am so I got up very early to get there. I didn't want to be dorky and take a picture of the bike so here's a picture of them before we started from far away.

New table
Check out my new table! Me and my mom saw this table at the store. She was going to buy it for me for Christmas. When she went to buy it she realize that it was gigantic and in many boxes. She decided she did not want the boxes sitting around her house until Christmas so she had my dad deliver it and assemble it here. Then he took my old table and delivered it to my brother. That is how me and my brother both got new tables as gifts for no reason today.

A room full of crazies
I went to the board meeting at the condo association today. It was like Jerry Springer live! People are suing the board, the board is suing residences. Everyone's money is being thrown out the window. It was nuts! So much screaming. Now I remember why I don't go to these things.

Family mystery
Today my brothers friend posted on facebook that she "made it to tomorrow " because she is traveling to New Zealand. That got me thinking... if you move across so many time zones like that and never return you are actually not a year older on your birthday because you skipped a day. And vice versa coming here. They are actually a year older the day before their birthday. I shared this thought with my mom and she pointed out that people during WWII lost whole years because they lied about their age to get into the service. She continues to tell me that they never actually knew how old my grandpop was when he died because of that. What!? You think someone would have mentioned this when I was researching my family tree last year. Here I was finding clues about 5th and 6th generation when there was a better mystery much closer to the trunk of this family tree. So I set out today to find some answers.
My mom said that when my grandfather died she thought he was 68. So did her mother and brother. My grandfather's brother though thought he was 70. This makes no sense to me because you would assume his brother would know the real (younger) age and the family would know the post war (older/ lied about) age. Thats backwards though. I cant use any military data because that can be wrong so I decided to check the census for some clarification. My grandpop died in Jan of 91. He was born in Oct. My mom thinks he was born in 1922. Her uncle thought 1920. The 1930 census was taken in April and it said that at his last birthday he was 8. Which would mean he turned 8 in Oct of 1929. Which would mean he was 69 when he died.
Not only did that not help but it actually served to further confuse the mystery. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can solve this, please let me know.
Great urban race
Yesterday I ran the Great Urban Race in Philly with my friends Katherine, Brian, and AJ. It was so much fun. Basically its a huge scavenger hunt around the city. At the start they give you 12 clues and you have to complete 11 of them. They were little brain teasers that brought you to different locations. At the locations you had to get pictures of your team doing certain things and pick up answers to questions or business cards as proof that you were there. You could do them in any order. There were some teams that were very serious. They brought maps and were sprinting around clues. Then there were teams like us who walked and stopped for snacks. But we did so much better than we thought! When we got back we were surprised to see some running teams behind us. It was a really great time and I would suggest it to anyone who is looking for something new to try.
Here is a picture of our team completing one of the clues.

Back to school
It was my first day back at school. It actually wasn't that painful because it poured all day. It's easier to go to work when you can't be at the pool or beach anyway. Heres a picture of my newest (but not my best) bulletin board.

Surprise!
So my friends tell me they are having a bbq. Its labor day so I have no reason to think otherwise. I wasn't looking forward to it because it was raining and I thought I wouldn't know anyone. Turns out I knew everyone because it was actually a surprise graduation party for me! I realized it in slow motion. First, I saw my work friend at my kickball friends house. Then I saw my parents who were down the shore. Slowly my brain saw the sign and cake and put it all together. Clearly, my friends are amazing. They organized the whole thing together, gathered all of my friends and family, and then surprised me by waiting til the end of the summer. It was awesome!

Canadian Fathers Day
For Father's Day I got my dad tickets to ride in a biplane. We cashed them in today, which coincidentally is Canadian Father's Day. It was so much fun! And it wasn't scary at all. We left from the Ocean City airport and flew North to the end of the island. We saw our house from the air. Then we flew up and down the coast and then landed again. It was all opened and very windy. You could see everything really clearly. We also got to wear the cool hats like in the olden days. It was definitely the best Canadian Father's Day I've ever had!
Distinguished
I think all it takes to be a distinguished adjunct is showing up to the meetings. Thats all I had to do to get the pin anyway!

Hanging with my mom
Today was my moms first day back at work and my dad was out of town, so I spent most of yesterday hanging out with her. We watched tv, went for a walk, went shopping, and had dinner.
Flight night
On Sunday I went to Flight Night, which is an Eagles pep rally at the Linc. I was excited to go because I have never been to a game there. I wanted to see the team and the stadium. It was basically alot of random prizes while you watched them practice. The best part was the laser/ firework show at the end. Now I can say I've been there.

Math professors
I went to a training with the other math teachers at the college. I was by far the youngest person in the room. You know the stereotype you have in your head of a math professor. The whole room was filled with people who actually looked like that. Comb overs, short sleeved dress shirts and pants pulled all the way up. I wanted to sneak a picture because I didn't think you would believe me, but I couldn't get one. You're just going to gave to visualize it.
Ducts
I had my air ducts cleaned the other day. Do you know how they clean ducts? One guy stands inside and points a leaf blower into the vent while another guy stands outside with a giant vacuum. I thought it would be more complicated.

Bad news batman
Now, I'm not a detective or anything but I sometimes get a feeling when something isn't good. On Monday there were four cop cars in my neighborhood. Then Tuesday the pool was unexpectedly closed. Today there are flowers and cross balloons on the playground. This cant be a good sign.

Red flags
In exchange for doing my hair one day, I promised my friend that I would help her organize her house. When I got there she had literally red flagged the areas she needed help with.

Pollys shower
My friend, Polly, is having a baby. I had her shower today. It was small and pain free. And I got to hang out with some work friends. Overall, successful. And what did we learn... Tricia and I know nothing about babies.
Lake party
I went to the best kind of party, a lake party. It was so relaxing. My friend lives on a lake and his house has a dock and a patio. Some people were fishing and others were sitting by the bbq. We took turns going canoing. It was so fun! Then as it got dark they made a fire in a fire pit and brought out the xbox to play rockband outside. It was definitely my kind of party.
(I have no idea why the picture published upside down, but I cannot figure out how to flip it...so its staying)

Aunt and uncle
I went to the beach with my mom to visit my aunt and uncle who were staying for the week. It poured! Here is my mom standing by the puddle in the street before the second downpour.

College vending machines
The vending machines at County College have school supplies in them. What a great idea!
Quirks
My mom likes to tease me about my quirks... but lets face it, I get my crazy from her. Exhibit A- she doodles on everything. Check out what I found in our People magazine this month.
Beach
Danielle wanted to go to the beach for her birthday and of course we all thought that was a great idea. It was perfect beach weather and we just lounged all day until we walked the boardwalk.
