Hanging with my mom

Today was my moms first day back at work and my dad was out of town, so I spent most of yesterday hanging out with her. We watched tv, went for a walk, went shopping, and had dinner.

Flight night

On Sunday I went to Flight Night, which is an Eagles pep rally at the Linc. I was excited to go because I have never been to a game there. I wanted to see the team and the stadium. It was basically alot of random prizes while you watched them practice. The best part was the laser/ firework show at the end. Now I can say I've been there.

Math professors

I went to a training with the other math teachers at the college. I was by far the youngest person in the room. You know the stereotype you have in your head of a math professor. The whole room was filled with people who actually looked like that. Comb overs, short sleeved dress shirts and pants pulled all the way up. I wanted to sneak a picture because I didn't think you would believe me, but I couldn't get one. You're just going to gave to visualize it.

Ducts

I had my air ducts cleaned the other day. Do you know how they clean ducts? One guy stands inside and points a leaf blower into the vent while another guy stands outside with a giant vacuum. I thought it would be more complicated.

Bad news batman

Now, I'm not a detective or anything but I sometimes get a feeling when something isn't good. On Monday there were four cop cars in my neighborhood. Then Tuesday the pool was unexpectedly closed. Today there are flowers and cross balloons on the playground. This cant be a good sign.

Red flags

In exchange for doing my hair one day, I promised my friend that I would help her organize her house. When I got there she had literally red flagged the areas she needed help with.

Pollys shower

My friend, Polly, is having a baby. I had her shower today. It was small and pain free. And I got to hang out with some work friends. Overall, successful. And what did we learn... Tricia and I know nothing about babies.

Lake party

I went to the best kind of party, a lake party. It was so relaxing. My friend lives on a lake and his house has a dock and a patio. Some people were fishing and others were sitting by the bbq. We took turns going canoing. It was so fun! Then as it got dark they made a fire in a fire pit and brought out the xbox to play rockband outside. It was definitely my kind of party.

Asbury shop

I saw this in one if the shops. I think I may try to make it.

Aunt and uncle

I went to the beach with my mom to visit my aunt and uncle who were staying for the week. It poured! Here is my mom standing by the puddle in the street before the second downpour.

College vending machines

The vending machines at County College have school supplies in them. What a great idea!

Quirks

My mom likes to tease me about my quirks... but lets face it, I get my crazy from her. Exhibit A- she doodles on everything. Check out what I found in our People magazine this month.

Beach

Danielle wanted to go to the beach for her birthday and of course we all thought that was a great idea. It was perfect beach weather and we just lounged all day until we walked the boardwalk.

Getting old

Not only am I getting old, but I think it's time I accept that I am old. I can tell because almost every conversation revolves around weddings, showers, or babies. And I think I'm ok with that because the only other topic of conversation is work.

Sometimes it doesn't work out

Sometimes plans just fall apart. Today was one of those days. My cousin lives in Georgia. She was coming up this way to visit her dad and she was flying into AC so we made plans to meet up for dinner. She called and said her flight was delayed so we pushed dinner back. Because it was later my dad couldn't come so me and my mom drove down. We figured we would be a little early. Since dinner wasn't going to be until later we ate a snack on the way down to hold is over. When we got there my cousin called again and said dinner was cancelled because she wasn't even on the plane yet. We called her dad but he already ate without us cause he thought we wouldn't even make it down. So now me and my mom are in AC with nothing to do and no one to meet. We weren't hungry so we walked around for a little and then drove home. What a bust.

Rainy day

It was raining out so me and my mom went shopping to kill some time. We passed this restaurant and she liked the sign.

Surfing 101

I have always wanted to learn how to surf. I decided it was about time I actually tried. I went down to the beach today and rented a board. I got out there and immediately felt like I was going to drown. It was so hard to worry about the board while I was trying not to go under. I was getting very discouraged. After sitting out for a while I decided to give it another try. Luckily the storm from last night had finally passed. This time the waves were way more manageable. I could focus on actually standing on the board instead of thinking about drowning. It's actually a lot more tiring than it looks. It is really fun though. I thought at first I was going to be reporting back that I hated it. However once the ocean cooperated I had a good time. I learned a couple of things also. 1. most of the people out in the ocean on the surf beach do not actually know what they are doing. They are just better at hiding it. 2. The leash is constantly in the way. It tripped me many times but it's actually very important. 3. Wear shorts and a shirt over your bathing suit unless you want the moon everyone on the beach. You will not have any free hands to hold up your clothes. 4. When you are thinking about surfing you forget that the ocean is freezing cold. That must be why surfers can go out all year round.

Wire art

My dad has found a new hobby. None of his real cars are broken right now so he has some free time to play in the garage. He used a bunch of spare wire to make models. He made one of Sonny for me. Isn't it good!

Celebratory cupcakes

When important things happen in Kate's life we go out for celebratory cupcakes. When important things happen in my life, we go for ice cream. It's a nice little tradition we have going.

Graduation celebration

Here is a picture of me on my first day if school and my last. It was the decoration at my graduation dinner. We had lobster and lasagna for dinner. I had never tried lobster and my dad loves it so my mom made it for the occasion. I liked it but not enough to make it my pick for future celebration dinners. I liked the lasagna better. And the chocolate cake. Thomas got me flowers and we just sat outside all evening. Low key but fun.

Graduation

Happy graduation day to me! Just like the last day of undergrad, I just walked out today like any other day and no one around me knew the day was special for me. (Its the downfall of not graduating in May.) It seems like I just started but it has been almost exactly 10 years since I  started my college career. Now I need to figure out what I want to do next. And what I want to buy myself as a congratulations self gift. Im taking suggestions...
