Here I am at my new place of employment. I filled out all of the paperwork today to officially start. You can just call me professor.

Makeup

On Saturday I'm going to the really fancy wedding. Since fancy isn't really my thing, the whole thing kind of makes me nervous. My mom thinks I will feel better if my hair is done in a special way. I'm usually more of a love it or leave it kind of girl. However, since the shower for this wedding was more fancy than anything I've ever seen, I decided maybe she's right. Luckily, I have a friend who volunteered to do my hair and makeup for me. She did a trial run today to make sure her makeup looked good on me and that I liked what she had in mind. Rather than spoil what I'm going to look like on Saturday I will give you a throwback picture instead. Here is the last time I wore makeup. Senior prom 10 years ago. Stay tuned for Saturdays update.

Dad and cars

Here is a picture of my dad with some of his cars. He has more cars than he has garage space so he has to switch them up every once in awhile from his other garage. Every car gets a turn at home. He had a good day because they all started.

Dawsons

Great news... Dawson's creek is on netflix! Lucky for me its now summer because that would not have been good for my productivity. Me and Kate started with the first couple episodes today. I already remember why I was so addicted.

Pinterest

I finally made one of the things I found on pinterest. I go on there and look all the time but very rarely actually make anything. My mom has a box of my grandma's old post cards and letters. I picked an envelope that look old and interesting. I liked this one because it had the date, the air mail symbol in Italian, and an Italian stamp. It was also addressed to my grandparents house. I brought the envelope to staples and had it blown up and turned into a poster. The frame was cheap at walmart and the print was cheap because it's in black and white. It came out looking just like the one I saw on the internet. Check it out.

Grad school presentation

Here I am waiting for the audience to show up to my senior grad school presentation. It was a success. One more class and i'll be done forever.

Fathers day

Happy father's day to all the dads out there. Here is a picture of my dad at his choice of restaurants. It is gross little old breakfast shack in ocean city. It's old, dirty, loud and crowded but he loves it. I had to suck it up and go because it was his choice.

Brr

It was so cold at the beach this weekend. It was sunny and nice however the wind was so strong and so cold that you actually needed long clothes. We debated leaving the beach because we were uncomfortable. Instead we sat in the walkway from the street to the beach. It was a perfect compromise because we were still sitting in the sand near the ocean however the dunes were blocking the wind.

Field day

Today is my favorite day of the school year, field day. I loved it when I was in school and I still love it now as a teacher.
When we were in elementary school it was called Play Day. Everyone was given a color team to be on, red white or blue. You played games and had relay races outside and they kept score on this giant chalkboard. It felt like the olympics. It was a big deal for us. Everyone dressed in their color and cheered for only their team. Then at the end of the day everybody got a popsicle and watched the sixth graders play the teachers in volleyball.
Now that I'm a teacher it's a little different. There are no teams and there is no final score. At this school the kids just travel to various stations and play games for a set amount of time. Most kids either love it or hate it. They spend the day outside playing sports or they spend the day by the teachers side complaining about being hot or bored. This year's class was really into it. A lot of kids decided to stay home so the ones that were in school were the ones that wanted to be there.
At the baskeball station the boys asked me and another teacher to play with them. I think they were surprised when we said yes... I know they were surprised when they saw that we could actually play. They were actually very sweet and sportsmanly. (Which is suprising for this class) I have never been so proud of the way they behaved and treated others before.
That leads me to todays visual of the day... Picture 15 or so 13 year old black boys and their whiter than white short teachers playing full court basketball. The baskets are low enough for them to dunk yet whenever we make a basket they all stop to cheer, high five us, and tell us what a good job we are doing. It was a nice change of pace.

Dina's day of fun

I had the most action packed day. Me and my mom started our morning with a bike ride on the boardwalk to Uncle Bills for pancakes. Then we went to the beach. It was perfect. We left fairly early so that I could be back in time for my last soccer game of the season. Once again, we lost but I played well. I was happy with my performance. I really am happy when I'm playing even though I'm out of shape. After soccer I met my friends for frozen yogurt at the new self serve place near my house. With the 90+ degree temperatures and running around on the field I never needed frozen yogurt so bad in my life. After I cooled down I went grocery shopping, did some laundry, and did my report card grades. I figured I better do something productive. Now I'm watching tv, relaxing, and mentally preparing for tomorrow. What a great day!

High school flashback

I was going through the books we have at the beach house because I wanted something light to read. I found my high school Orgal in there. Ew! Yuck! Why wasn't that thing burned ten years ago? And even if it wasn't burned it has no business being in a place of relaxation.

For all of you bloggers who are not from NJ, this one is for you. Down the shore there is a famous candy called salt water taffy. It is one of those candies that I never really wish for but then once I have it I enjoy it. I had this years first piece today. Early morning tv

I couldn't sleep this morning so I decided to turn on the tv. My all time favorite show was on, the Brady Bunch! I guess you have to be up in the 5s to see it.

Wildlife

I found the frog on the sidewalk today. My neighborhood is filled with such cute wildlife.

We made it to the greatest month of the year. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
